Curriculum & this term's topic - What we are learning?
Our topic this term is What makes me special?
We will be reading a variety of fiction and non-fiction books including The Colour Monster, Super Duper you, What makes me a me, The Name Jar, Elmer, Only One You and Giraffe is left out.
We will be thinking about who lives with us, who lives around us, where we come from and our community. The children will share their all about me boxes and all their favourite things they like to do.
In addition we will be learning a new sound everyday to enable the children to begin to segment and blend simple CVC words. The children will also focus on forming the taught sounds correctly each day through our daily finger fit activities. There will also be lots of matching, sorting, comparing and pattern exploration during our maths focus time as well consistent mathematic opportunities during Choosing Your Own Learning time (COOL Time).
There will be lots of opportunity to explore our wonderful indoor and outdoor environment during COOL time igniting awe and wonder to help them develop their important vocabulary skills and understanding of the world. Further more the children will get to know the school grounds with our annual sponsored welly walk.
