Pupils will take part in The Kingfisher Award Scheme, which was established in 1992 by the late Poet Laureate Ted Hughes and friends and is part of the educational outreach work carried out by the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group Southwest.
The scheme promotes awareness of the countryside, farming and conservation to school children and has 2 parts:
- The Field Visit. This is a half day farm visit where a range of hands on, fun activities are offered to the children (Friday 19th May 2023).
- Presentation. A few weeks later the 3 judges will visit the schools to meet the children and view the work they have done. The winning school will receive the prestigious Kingfisher Trophy.
