What We Are Up To
Year 3 have been learning about friction. They tested a toy car on different surfaces and recorded how long the car took to travel down the ramp.
They used their maths skills to compare the length of time taken and to choose the average (middle) result when recording their findings.
Year 3 have been investigating magnets in our science lesson! Lots of ‘wow’ moments and investigating!
Carlyon Bay have been working with Rob Lane to act out two important scenes in Macbeth for a cluster school performance on Tuesday (6/11) and Wednesday (7/11). We had our big dress rehearsal with the other schools on Monday and showed our impressive scenes.
We also enjoyed watching classes from the other local schools play out their scenes. It’s all looking fantastic and we can’t wait for our big performance to our parents on Wednesday night. Make sure you collect your tickets today if you haven’t already!
Carlyon Bay have been making their own candle decorations to sell at the Christmas Fayre. Parents can purchase their child’s decoration after school on Friday or Monday for £2. Any not sold, along with any extras, will be available to buy at the Christmas Fayre.
Oh no! Over the Christmas break, a family of spiders moved into Carlyon Bay’s classroom! Thankfully, one bright spider has brought along a blackboard to write messages to the class as we start our class story Charlotte’s Web.
Year 3’s in Lansallos and Carlyon Bay are learning about skeletons. Here we are trying build our own skeletons.
Graphs and Charts
This week, Carlyon Bay have been looking at different ways of presenting information in graphs and charts. Today they each did their own investigation to find out information about their friends and presented it in tally charts, pictograms and bar graphs. Even when doing other subjects, they always have their scientific minds working!
