MINING IN CORNWALL
Carlyon Bay class had a visit from Iain Rowe, he works at the Cornwall record office and spoke to the class about the history of mining in Cornwall. We started off by watching a presentation and playing a version of 'Rock, paper, scissors' called 'Rock, water, dynamite!'
Then we got to hold ore and the metals that come from Cornish mines.
Gingerbread Man Decorating
Tesco's visited to talk to the whole school about the history of ginger in our food, we learnt about where ginger comes from and the tradition of Gingerbread at Christmas
Rev. Childs visited Carlyon Bay and Lansallos to talk about Advent. She made a large Christingle and then with the help of Claire Louise and Tesco we all got to make a Christingle to take home.
Puppet Workshop - The Mousehole Cat
Carlyon Bay and Lansallos have enjoyed a fantastic day working with actors from Cousin Jack theatre group, sharing their love of the Cornish story, The Mousehole Cat. They invented their own fish, met Mowzer, acted out parts of the story and learnt a Cornish song that is sung every year in Mousehole.
